So I was at an exhibition event, talking to people about TheBOAH, and I was amazed how many questions they wanted answers to in regards their hair and skin mainly. I was also amazed how similar a lot of these questions are. While I do not claim to be an industry expert, I promised to answer these questions to the best of my ability, based on personal experience and practice, and extensive research. Referring to more knowledgeable parties where necessary.

I have collated these questions and will be answering them bit by bit in what is to be our new Q&A posts. This is Vol 1!

Please feel free to ask your own questions in the comments box below, or shoot an email to info@theboah.com

  • What are the Best Anti-Aging Products?

There is no such thing as a best product for anti-aging, more like many great products. The best way to go about picking products is by knowing your skin type and its needs; and then checking what anti-aging ingredients are contained in products and how effective they are.

There are many great ingredients that work in different ways to help keep the skin looking more youthful. Some of these ingredients include, Sunscreen (Most Important), Retinol, AHA, BHA, Vitamin C, amongst others.

Ingredients listed at the top are the active ingredients, so look for products that have your targeted anti-aging ingredient at the top (at least first 5).

  • How do I cure acne and pimples?

Acne is not curable, only treatable. The good news is that you can become and stay acne free… All you have to do is learn how to treat and care for your acne prone skin.

Cultivate a good skin regimen. Wash and moisturise your skin twice a day with a gentle cleanser, and a non-comedogenic moisturiser. Treat your skin with a Benzoyl Peroxide gel (for oily skin) or cream (for drier skin)… BP is the only thing that kills acne bacteria. Tea tree essential oil also does the same thing, but takes longer than the BP. Note that you MUST use a sunscreen with at least SPF 30, especially when using treatments containing BP.

Watch what you are eating. Stop eating anything that might be aggravating your acne, drink plenty water. Check if the products you put on your skin, cosmetics and makeup, contain Comedogenic Ingredients. These are ingredients that can clog your pores, further exasperating your acne (We compiled a list for you which should be coming up soon). If they do, you should consider switching to alternate brands that are non-comedogenic.

Maintain good hygiene… Wash your makeup brushes at least every 2 weeks, change your pillow covers every few days, change your towels often, and avoid touching your face during the day.
